North Country Emergency Physicians have served Lewis County General Hospital for the past 24 years. The names and faces of Dr. Daniel Cappon, Dr. Jon Hager, Dr. Sean Harney and Dr. Robert Harryman are well known to our community.
I am currently retired but worked at Lewis County General Hospital emergency department for 22 years. Although I dont reside in the area full-time anymore, I do still frequent the area to visit family and to relax at our camp. I feel privileged to have worked alongside these competent and compassionate physicians for many years. Unfortunately, however, their tenure at LCGH is at risk. There are reports that LCGH administration is looking to replace these local, competent emergency physicians with a national group.
Twenty-five years ago or so, LCGH emergency department was briefly staffed by an outside group of doctors. This was short-lived as this practice did not provide quality services to our community or patients. They had no ownership in our hospital nor did they provide any continuity of care. Needless to say, the character and competence of some of these physicians were questionable and of grave concern.
Dr. Cappon, Dr. Hager, Dr. Harney and Dr. Harryman provide exceptional medical care to our family and friends and deserve more respect from the current administration.
