The town of Hounsfield may keep its tax rate the same, helped by another year of increased sales tax revenue.
The towns tax rate is $1.28 per $1,000 of assessed property value.
The council, in a three-hour meeting Wednesday night, tentatively covered most portions of the proposed budget. The town also is considering increasing the money it spends for road projects to $200,000 in 2013, up from $150,000 this year.
The council also proposed a rate increase in its Water Districts 2 and 3, to pay for higher operation costs in 2012, increased water prices and to raise capital. Residents in the districts could see their quarterly rate increase to $85, from the current rate of $80. The council asked Treasurer Mary Ann Yuhas to calculate potential revenues from increasing the price of water for users of over 10,000 gallons.
A tentative budget is due Oct. 5. The councils next budget discussion will take place at 7 a.m. on Oct. 11.
