CARTHAGE Michael P. Chevier is no longer on the districts Board of Education.
During the Carthage Central School Districts board meeting Monday night at the high school, members unanimously approved Mr. Cheviers resignation. Brian K. Serota, a former board member, was appointed unanimously to take his place.
Mr. Serota retired from the Army in 2010 after 20 years of service.
Mr. Serota said he will run for the position in May.
Mr. Chevier, a former board president, cited his health in the resignation, which took effect Sept. 13. He has said his doctor advised him to reduce his stress level to help his heart.
