SYRACUSE Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib has been nominated for the National Football Foundations scholar-athlete award.
Nassibs 1,367 total yards place him second in the nation, and he currently ranks seventh nationally and leads the Big East in total offense (360 yards per game).
Nassib, who has the Syracuse all-time completions record (615), also is one of 21 quarterbacks named to the Senior Bowl Watch List and is a candidate for the 2012 Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award, given to the top quarterback in the country. Nassib graduated in May with a degree in finance and is pursuing a masters degree in accounting.
The NFF will select up to 16 honorees, with each receiving an $18,000 post-graduate scholarship.
