Motorists accused of driving while intoxicated

A Carthage man is facing his second arrest on aggravated driving while intoxicated charges in five months.

Guy E. Schell, 26, of 16 North Ave., was arrested by state police shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday at State Street and Moore Avenue in Watertown, and additionally was cited with failure to yield right of way, making an unsafe lane change and making an improper signal.

Police said he had a breath test reading of 0.20 percent blood alcohol content. Under state law, 0.18 percent is the threshold for aggravated DWI. A BAC of 0.08 percent or more constitutes intoxication under state law.

His BAC was listed as 0.29 percent after troopers arrested him April 29 in the town of Diana. That case is pending prosecution.

The following also are accused of DWI and related offenses:

n Christina L. Dent, 45, Canton, was charged by state police with felony DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle at 10:19 a.m. Sunday after a property-damage accident in the town of Canton. Police said she took a wide turn onto County Route 25, entering the oncoming lane and brushing against another vehicle, causing minor damage to her own car. In her attempt to back up, she drifted off the road and her vehicle hit a fence, troopers said. Police said that when troopers arrived, they found she had a suspended license from a prior DWI conviction.

n Daniel E. Jones, 28, of 121 Flower Ave. E., Watertown, was charged by city police at 1:15 a.m. Friday with aggravated DWI, driving at a speed not reasonable or prudent and failure to signal a turn in the 300 block of Brainard Street. Police listed his BAC as 0.20 percent.

n Donald A. Keator, 52, of 91 Stacy Drive, Lacona, was charged by Lewis County sheriff’s deputies at 12:45 a.m. Sunday on Redfield Road in the town of Osceola. He also was cited with failure to signal a turn and failure to keep right. The sheriff’s office listed his BAC as 0.16 percent blood alcohol content.

n David J. Ferris, 21, of 49 W. Main St., Canton was arrested by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies Sunday after he was stopped for allegedly failing to keep right on Route 11 in Canton. His BAC was 0.11 percent, deputies said.

n Edwin E. Sharlow Jr., 40, of 11422 Route 37, Waddington, also was charged by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies Sept. 22 with resisting arrest, criminal mischief, failure to dim headlamps and operating out of class. He was stopped on Route 37 in Waddington. His BAC was 0.14 percent, deputies said.

n Rui M. Ni, 41, of 1231 Harris Drive, was arrested by state police at 2:50 a.m. Wednesday on South Orchard Street in Watertown. His BAC was unavailable.

nCarlee A. Burns, 29, Brownville, also is charged with texting while driving as a result of an accident shortly before 1 a.m. Friday at county routes 66 and 62 in the town of Hounsfield. State police said her vehicle struck a utility pole. She was treated for neck pains at Samaritan Medical Center.
