MASSENA A Massena man was jailed on Friday after he allegedly stole his mothers Dodge Durango and then crashed it into a tree on Hubbard Road, just blocks from his home.
Village police charged Kenneth A. Laughlin, 20, of 64 Perkins Road, with fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, driving after dark with no headlights, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of a property-damage accident at 9:28 p.m. Friday. Police said the truck was heavily damaged and was towed from the scene.
Mr. Laughlin was arraigned by acting Massena Village Justice James M. Crandall and sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, with bail set at $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond. No further details were available from police.
