Ivan H. Bertrand, 80, of 661 Thompson St., Watertown passed September 29, 2012 at his home.
A prayer service will be 9:30 a.m. Wed., Oct. 3rd at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tues., Oct 2nd at the funeral home.
Born on July 28, 1932 in Watertown, NY son of Ivan L. and Margaret Elliot Bertrand, he graduated from Watertown High School in 1950.
Mr. Bertrand then worked for Sicard Industries for two years as a mechanic. He entered the Air Force in May of 1952 and served in North Africa for 13 months as a weatherman. He returned to the states and was stationed at Westover Air Force Base in Mass. He was honorably discharged in 1956.
He returned to Watertown and worked at Sicard Industries for a year and in 1957 he went to work at Williams Apparatus. He was a mechanic, foreman and metal finisher up until he retired in 2009.
He married Margaret Kimball of Watertown on August 1, 1959 at Sacred Heart Church. She passed June 25, 1986.
He was a life member of Northside Improvement League, member of the Brownville American Legion Post 0588, an avid hunter, fisherman, he enjoyed bowling and going to hunting camp in Harrisville.
Among his survivors are four sons and a daughter in law; John J., Dennis J., Neil I., Robert K. and Kathy Bertrand, all of Watertown; a sister, Marie Duval, Warminster, PA; 3 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
