West Carthage - Edmond L. “Butch” Petrie, 72, of 3 S. Jefferson St. died Sunday afternoon, September 30, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Petrie was born in Carthage on June 10, 1940, the son of the late Edmund and Frances Bodfield Petrie. He attended school in Harrisville. He married the former Lois A. Pierce on July 27, 1962 in West Carthage.

He retired in 1992 from the James River Corp, Carthage where he was a beater operator. He worked for over 30 years. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and fishing and spent numerous summers at Lake Bonaparte, swimming and boating.

He is survived by his wife, Lois A. of West Carthage, two daughters: Debbie L. Hall of Harrisville and Kelly A. Petrie of Carthage, a son: Leon E. “Lee” Petrie of Rochester, 5 Grandchildren; Kylie, Kaci, Kara, Kelsey and Kaden and 3 Great Grandchildren; Tanner, Shaelyn and Paisley, four sisters: Margaret Petrie Cleland and Mary Sykes, both of West Carthage, Melissa Frasier of Sackets Harbor and Melinda Carvin of Westminster, MD, and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Monica Mothersell is predeceased.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 PM at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home with Mr. Wayne Arnold officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery at the family’s convenience. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday from 4-7pm.
