OGDENSBURG — It is election time again for the Greater Ogdensburg Chamber of Commerce board of directors, with 10 candidates vying for seven seats on the 25-member group.

Three of the candidates are incumbents seeking a second consecutive three-year term that is the maximum allowed under the chamber’s bylaws. They are: Lori M. Smithers, chamber president and development director for United Helpers; Lisa E. Hirsch, finance manager at Blevins Bros., and Michael Brashaw of Ed-Med Federal Credit Union.

Three directors have reached their two-term limit and cannot run again: Lee A. Jones, insurance executive agent; Barbara J. O’Keefe, president of the Fort La Presentation Association, and Larry Doe.

One director, Lisa Knowlton of the St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union, has decided not to run for a second term.

The seven new candidates are: Kim Demers of Kimros Medicine Place, a former board member; Lauren V. Gilmour, education specialist at the Frederic Remington Art Museum’s Kids Place; Douglas Johnson of SeaComm Federal Credit Union; Joseph Metz of Park Street Agway; Judith Ryan of the Fort La Presentation Association; Michael Thayer of the St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union, and Derek Van House of Pinto, Mucenski, Hooper, Van House & Co. accountants.

Chamber Executive Director Sandra M. Porter said Thursday that she soon will mail the ballots to the chamber’s 275 dues-paying members.

The ballots must be returned to the chamber office with a postmark no later than Oct. 24.
