A Watertown man is facing two counts of second-degree menacing after Watertown police say he threatened two women with a knife late Wednesday.
Michael R. Robinson, 28, of 232 W. Main St., was arrested at 12:25 a.m. Thursday in the 600 block of Emerson Street, and was detained for arraignment in City Court.
Police charged him in an incident that occurred about 11:50 p.m. at 100 State Place. He is accused of displaying a knife in a threatening manner against Brittany A. Smith, 25, and Ingrid L. Hampton, 34, both of Watertown, police said.
Mr. Robinson was discharged from a state prison on May 4 after serving a term given him in St. Lawrence County Court, Canton, in November 2009 for fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision website. He also served about 27 months in prison after being convicted of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance in Lewis County in 2005.
