CARTHAGE The emergency room at Carthage Area Hospital was closed to trauma victims from about 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday because the computed tomography, or CT, scanner quit working.
Hospital spokeswoman Natalie M. Burnham said it is standard practice to close the emergency department to trauma when a vital piece of equipment is not functioning.
We want to provide quality health care, she said. We have a service contract and the equipment was repaired as soon as possible.
