OGDENSBURG City officials will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday to open the Lake Street pedestrian bridge over the Oswegatchie River.
The ceremony will be on the west side of the bridge.
The bridge replacement began in September 2011. A new water main and an larger sanitary force main were installed, and a 16-inch water main was constructed under the river.
Interim City Manager Philip A. Cosmo said the crossing is important to redeveloping the nearby former Shade Roller and Diamond International properties.
The contractor was Tuscarora Construction Co. Inc., Pulaski. The project was funded by a $2.5 million grant from the state Regional Economic Development Program and the states Empire State Development Corp. Restore NY program.
Wayne Ladouceur of VIP Films, Ogdensburg, will film the opening and welcomes public comments on memories of the original bridge.
