New legislation signed Wednesday by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo will allow the state Department of Motor Vehicles to place a mark on a drivers license or non-driver ID indicating its holder is a military veteran.
The law will take effect in a year. According to a press release from the governors office, the DMV will use the time to revise its paperwork to support the change.
Department staff also will be charged with reviewing the paperwork of applicants during new license applications and renewals.
