MASSENA Improvement projects at the Massena International Airport are set to begin thanks to funding from the North Country Regional Economic Development Council.
The council granted $759,000 to Massena for the construction of a 12,000-foot, 10-plane hangar. The town will chip in $134,000 for the new facility.
With the money in place, construction is expected to begin next year.
The grant is part of more than $1 million in airport improvement projects funded through the council in 2011.
Overall, the council has distributed $103 million in 2011 economic development funding.
The council is competing for a slice of $750,000 in 2012 money.
