A Fort Drum man was taken to the hospital after crashing his bike Saturday on Gill Street.

According to city police, Derrick J. Henderson, 21, of 20368 Bagram Road, crashed his 2003 Suzuki motorcycle about 3:55 p.m. while traveling west on the 1200 block of the street, near the corner of North Indiana Avenue, as he weaved back and forth to break in a new tire.

Police said that Mr. Henderson and his bike fell on the right side and skidded about 25 feet, then hitting a curb. Complaining of a knee injury, Mr. Henderson was taken by Guilfoyle Ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center.

No charges for Mr. Henderson were listed on a report of the crash.
