Im writing to offer a rebuttal to the Steven Duffany letter entitled, Put nation on right path with Republicans, printed in the Sept. 20 issue. Now I dont know where Mr. Duffany was four years ago, but he couldnt have been in this country. At the end of the last Republican administration we were losing literally millions of jobs monthly, Main Street businesses were collapsing into bankruptcy and the stock market was half of what it is under this administration. The last Republican president spent more money than all the former presidents put together, including the Democrats. Now who in their right mind would want to go back to that situation?
Mr. Duffany must be involved in the GOP campaign or make his livelihood from it somehow to make these disingenuous statements. Anyone with a normal memory knows this county was headed for another great depression just like the last Great Depression, again, under a Republican administration.
If you want to lose your job, have your house foreclosed on and have the stock market at half of what it is today, then by all means, vote Republican and live in some kind of fantasy world of selfish and greedy where only the top 1 percent does well. If you think you are going to wind up in that top percentage, youre kidding yourself. You are much more likely to be crushed by the top 1 percent after they get done rigging the system in their favor. Regulations were put in place to control predatory business practices. By all means, get out and vote.
