HERRINGS Village officials agreed to take advantage of a state program to replace inefficient appliances. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority recently announced the Buy Green, Save Green Rebates for New York State Local Governments to replace inefficient appliances and equipment with energy-efficient models.
River Area Council of Governments circuit rider Kathleen M. Amyot said the rebates were awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Mayor Richard A. Beirman said the village would look into replacing the refrigerator and stove that were donated for use in the village hall. Residents can use the community room for gatherings for a $25 deposit that is returned if the room is cleaned. Nonresidents are permitted to use the hall for $50 plus the refundable cleaning deposit.
NYSERDA is offering up to a 75 percent reimbursement on purchases made after Sept. 25. Applications are available at nysappliancerebates.com or by calling 1 (877) 697-6278.
