MACEDON Sophomore Jack Whelan tied his low collegiate score with a second round 69 on Sunday and finished fourth overall, helping St. Lawrence Universitys mens golf team to a tie for second in the ECAC Atlantic Division III Golf Championship at Blue Heron Hills Golf Course.
Whelan shot 80 in the first round, but came back with the best score of the tournament on the challenging Blue Heron course on Sunday.
The Saints tied with Clarkson with a two-day total of 631, shooting 321-310 to trail champion St. John Fisher, which won with a best four of five score of 602.
Jeff Duggan posted a top 10 finish for the Saints with rounds of 76 and 80 to finish eighth at 156.
SUNY Potsdam took fourth as freshman John Hickey tied for ninth with rounds of 77 and 80 for a 157.
■ St. Lawrence senior Aimee Caligiore tied for third with rounds of 83 and 77 on the Taconic Golf Course at Williams College as the Saints women tied for seventh at the Williams Invitational.
