BRASHER FALLS - The course was wet and temperatures were cool, but approximately 70 runners and walkers took part in the first The Larrie 5K/10K Saturday morning in Brasher Falls.
The race was a fundraiser for the St. Lawrence Central Athletic Department fund, and the 5K field was dominated by current St. Lawrence Central soccer players and swimmers.
Shane Fuentes (20:57.8) was the first to cross the finish the 5K finish lined followed by Cole Meacham (21:44) and Nate McLaughlin (22:06) in the field of 30 male runners.
Lindsey Thayer finished in 23:10 to top the womens field ahead of Madee Derouchie (24:25) and Lynn Perkins (26:12).
Joe LaBarr (44:26) set the pace in a small 10K field. Jack Charlebois (48.07) and Ted Dominy (48:56) rounded out the top three on the mens side. Michelle Rutledge (53:59) and Sue Dodds (57:25) led the womens field.
The event raised over $700, organizers said.
