CASTORLAND — A benefit for Charles F. Brown, a member of the Castorland Fire Department and local crafter, is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Castorland Fire Department, 5187 Route 410. Mr. Brown has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is to begin radiation treatments in Utica.

The event will include a chicken barbecue prepared by members of the department. Dinners will sell for $8, or $5 for half a chicken. Eat-in or takeout is available. There also will be a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle and games for children.
