An investigation that began late in August as a result of a domestic fight was wrapped up Saturday with the arrest of a Watertown man on charges that he possessed illegal knives and was growing marijuana in the basement of his home.

Thomas S. Mason II, 30, of 219 Stuart St., is charged with three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and single counts of third-degree criminal possession of marijuana and growing marijuana without a license.

His wife, Kelly T. Mason, 31, was charged Sept. 19 with the marijuana counts. No explanation was available Monday from police about what delayed Mr. Mason’s arrest.

The couple is accused of having 13.6 ounces of marijuana in their home on Aug. 29, and Mr. Mason allegedly possessed a dagger and a switchblade knife the same day. In a subsequent incident Sept. 14, he again possessed a switchblade, police said.

Police said plants were found growing in the basement on Aug. 29 while Mr. Mason was being charged with criminal mischief following a domestic fight.
