Watertown / North Carolina- Jan Robert ODette, 62, formerly of Watertown, died June 19th of this year at his home in Franklin, NC.
Calling hours will be Thursday, June 11th from 5 pm - 8 pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial will be for the convenience of the family in Brookside Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life service was held in Asheville, NC on June 22, 2012.
He was born in Watertown, January 10, 1950, a son to Oliver Byron and Julia Iren Thrasher ODette, Sr., graduating from Watertown High School and the BOCES Body and Paint Shop program in 1968. Jan worked was an auto body and paint technician at Town Motors on State St.,Watertown, moving to Clearmont, NH in 1985. Mr. ODette worked for Paul & Sons Ford Dealership in Clearmont, moving to Asheville and then to Franklin, NC where he worked for the Franklin Body Shop for 18 years.
Jan was a NY Yankee fan and collected baseball cards. He followed Nascar and built model race cars. He played slo-pitch soft ball in the Watertown area.
Jan is survived by his children, Shawn, Robert, Brian, Scott, Allison ODette and Michelle (Chad) Roberts. Two brothers, Oliver Jr. and Clyde. 4 sisters, Ruby (Charles) Pierce; Elizabeth (John) Currier; Sally (David) Price; Dawn (Scot) Link. 17 grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Allan, 3 sisters, Maryellen Gondosch, Judy Reynolds, Dora Jean Repp and a granddaughter Jordan ODette.
