BELLEVILLE- A Memorial Service for David P. Cobb 73, of 9245 Swan Road, will be Saturday, October 13th, at 10:00AM at the Carpenter-Stoodley funeral home with Rev. Gary Berry officiating. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Adams Center.
Calling hours will be Friday, October 12th, from 5:00 to 7:00PM at the Carpenter-Stoodley funeral home.
Mr. Cobb died Monday, October 1st, at his home on Swan Road.
He was born May 14, 1939 in Syracuse, a son of Hubert and Ethelwyn Lyons Cobb. He attended Belleville Central School and following his schooling he went to work on the William Reed farm on the Washington Park road. In 1958 he went to work at Dobbins Auto Parts and Salvage Yard in Adams. He drove milk truck for a while and then drove a tow truck and was parts manager until he retired.
David was a former fire chief for the Mannsville Manor fire department, he was a member of the Redfield game club and the Henderson fish and game club.
He is survived by a granddaughter. Shannon Marie Smith of Dominica, West Indies; 3 grandsons, Dustin Smith, Sam Smith and Travis Cobb all of Smithville; a sister, Ann Sanderson of Adams; a son-in-law, Brad Smith of Smithville; many nieces and nephews including Wilbur Chatterton II of Mannsville.
He was predeceased by his wife June on February 12, 2004; 2 sons, David Cobb and Michael Cobb; and a daughter, Maureen Smith; 3 brothers, Hubert Cobb, John Cobb and Madison Cobb; and a sister, Helen Chatterton.
