Helen Elaine Thomas, 76, Fort Scott, Kansas passed away Thursday, October 04, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott. She was born November 27, 1935 in Theresa, NY the daughter of Leslie E. and Margaret (Hall) Gillett of Brier Hill, NY. She married Otis Otie Thomas March 31, 1956 in Brier Hill, New York.
Helen attended Morristown High School and St. Lawrence University. She was treasurer and co-owner with her husband Otie of Graphic Resources Corp. Helen also taught high school and college English, and was the Treasurer for Kappa Delta Sorority. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and a Charter Member and Treasurer of Kiwanis Pioneers, Fort Scott Kansas.
Helen is survived by her husband Otie; nieces Sue (Jeremy) Gillett of Theresa NY, Amy (John) Stenard of St. Petersburg, FL, Anne Gillett of St. Paul, MN, nephews Edward (Annie) Gillett of St. Petersburg, FL, Michael O. McWilliams of Australia and a sister-in-law, Jane Gillett, Alexandria Bay, NY and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Roger E Gillett.
Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Scott with burial following at the Fort Scott National Cemetery under the direction of the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home.
