James L. Jim Reid, 78, of Boylston passed away October 7, 2012 at Samaritan Keep Home in Watertown. Born, November 6, 1933 in Lacona, NY, son of the late William & Pearl Snyder Reid. Educated in Sandy Creek School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was married to Barbara J. McDougal who died in 1994 and Virginia R. McDougal who died in 2006. He was employed by Blount Lumber Co. and General Cruse Stone in Lacona. He owned and operated Reids Gun Shop in Boylston. He was an avid outdoorsman, as well as a musician and played in several area bands.
Survived by a daughter Charlotte (John) Beesaw of Mannsville, four sons, Richard of Nashville, TN, David of Lacona, Alan (Cathy) of Utica, Robert (Chris-tene) of Camden. Three step children, Rhonda Barron of Sandy Creek, Nancy Liszewski of Lacona, and Daniel McDougal of Black River. A brother Fay Reid of Watertown, 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother William Reid Jr., three sisters, Maude Kastler, Mildred Nemier, and Marjorie Robbins.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 11 AM at Summerville Funeral Home in Sandy Creek with Rev. Brian Snyder officiating. Burial in Boylston-Sandy Creek Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
