A Watertown man faces three charges after allegedly shoving a City Court security officer Thursday morning.

Anthony J. Ramirez, 33, no fixed address, was charged by city police with second-degree criminal contempt, resisting arrest and second-degree harassment.

It is alleged that Mr. Ramirez was being disorderly while observing court proceedings, prompting Judge Eugene R. Renzi to halt proceedings. When Officers Barry L. Meador and James H. Narrow told Mr. Ramirez he was being arrested, he allegedly pulled his arms away from them and shoved Officer Narrow in the chest.

Mr. Ramirez fled from the courtroom at 245 Washington St., but was located by city police about an hour later in the 100 block of Arsenal Street, across the street from the Jefferson County Court complex.

He was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and held on $500 police bail pending arraignment in City Court. Police also discovered that state troopers hold an active warrant for Mr. Ramirez on an unspecified charge.
