Knowing Two Ways Out will be the focus of the Watertown Fire Departments fire prevention week observance from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Emma Flower Taylor fire station on Massey Street.
Chief Dale C. Herman said a non-toxic smoke will greet visitors who enter the departments training trailer, as instructions are given to crawl low to find a safe exit. Also, heat will be applied to one of the structures door, again for the purpose of showing how to determine which exit to take.
Other demonstrations will include extrication from a wrecked car, use of robots by Fort Drum personnel, the Watertown police K-9 unit, Guilfoyle Ambulance, state police child safety seat certification, the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department Yellow Dot program that identifies for emergency personnel the nature of a persons pre-existing illness.
Weather permitting, firefighters will be demonstrating their repelling skills, using an aerial truck, Chief Herman said.
