Watertown police allege that a city man burglarized his mother-in-law’s home to steal his estranged wife’s laptop computer.

Jacob P. Gibson, 25, of 24443 Route 37, was arrested Wednesday night on charges of second-degree burglary and petit larceny. At his arraignment Thursday, Watertown City Judge Eugene R. Renzi set bail at $2,500, committing him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building. He awaits possible grand jury action.

Police said the intrusion at the home of Rebekah A. Hunt, 520 Mundy St., occurred at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Mr. Gibson was charged in February with fourth-degree criminal mischief as a result of a fight with his wife, Kylee, while he was living in the Hunt home. He pleaded guilty as charged, and on March 30, was assessed a fine and court fees totaling $350 in City Court.
