Motorists facing charges over alcohol or drugs

The following were charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

■ Thomas Ortiz Jr., 29, Fort Drum, was arrested by Watertown police at 1:45 a.m. Wednesday at Thompson Park. He also was cited with a municipal code violation of violating the park’s curfew. Police said he had a breath test reading of 0.12 percent blood alcohol content. The state’s standard for intoxication is 0.08 percent BAC.

■ Bradley R. Quick, 24, of 107 Laguardia Place, Sackets Harbor, was arrested at 2 a.m. Oct. 3 by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies on Route 3 in the town of Henderson. He also was cited with failure to keep right and driving an uninspected vehicle. He had a breath test reading of 0.15 percent BAC, deputies said.

Mr. Quick pleaded guilty in March in Hounsfield Town Court to a charge of driving while ability impaired by alcohol, a reduction satisfying a DWI charge lodged in February. On that occasion, police listed his BAC as 0.17 percent.

■ Joseph M. Bellak, 65, New Windsor, Md., also was charged by state police with consuming an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle at 6:25 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot at Candlewood Suites, Johnson Road, town of LeRay. Police said he had a breath test reading of 0.11 percent BAC.

■ Robert G. Hax, 65, of 3993 Port St., Pulaski, was charged as a result of an accident Saturday in which he was injured, according to state police.

He was taken to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, after suffering shoulder and neck injuries when his vehicle struck a utility pole shortly after 7 p.m. Saturday at Canning Factory Road and Orton Road in the town of Richland, police said.

■ Zebulon W. Mosher, 25, of 407 Main St., Theresa, was charged Sept. 29 by Theresa village police. He was arraigned before Theresa Town Justice Roger K. Duvall and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $1,500 bail.

■ Travis M. Chisholm, 40, of 142 West Road, Heuvelton, was charged by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies Sept. 29 on Marshall Road in the town of Macomb, where he also was accused of failure to keep right. His BAC was listed as 0.16 percent.

■ Richard J. Premo, 40, Gouverneur, was charged by state police at 8:20 p.m. Wednesday on County Route 12, Rossie, where he was stopped for swerving across the road’s center line several times. His BAC was listed as 0.14 percent.

■ Kirk D. Stephan, 40, Clifton Park, was charged by state police at 9:48 p.m. Wednesday on Route 56 in Colton. Police said he refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test.

Charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs:

■ Adam K. Simmons, 22, Gouverneur, was arrested by state police at 10:26 p.m. Tuesday on Main Street, Gouverneur, where he was stopped for speeding. Troopers said he was found to be under the influence of an unknown substance.
