Joseph S. Barney, 32, of 829 Water St., who was jailed Oct. 2 in connection with a truck theft investigation, was cited Thursday with an additional charge in the case.
He initially was cited by the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department with fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property for allegedly having the state title tor the truck, a 1998 Dodge that was stolen in Oneida County. A felony count of fourth-degree possession now has been lodged, accusing him of possessing the truck on the evening of Oct. 1 on Line School Road in the town of Champion.
Mr. Barney on Friday remained a prisoner in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, with bail set at $5,000.
