FORT DRUM — Soldiers from the 693rd Engineer Company, 7th Engineer Battalion, formally signaled their coming deployment in a ceremony on post Tuesday.

The company, about 100 soldiers, soon will deploy to Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, for a nine-month route clearance mission.

A 10th Mountain Division spokesman would not say when the soldiers will leave for their mission.
