Dexter-Bernice M. Heise, age 91 of Cornelia St., Dexter passed away Friday morning at Mercy Health Care where she had been a patient since March.

Bernice was born April 19, 1921 in Watertown, the daughter of Harry and Pauline Weal Johnson. She graduated from Dexter High School in 1938 and married Howard C. Heise on June 24, 1940 in LaFargeville.

Bernice worked as a Technician at Mercy Hospital until retiring in 1991. Howard passed away December 20, 1986.

She is survived by three children and their spouses: Howard and Cathleen Heise of Dexter, Roger and Diane Heise of Clayton and Carolyn and Thomas Mosher of Evans Mills. She has seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, a sister Mae Gould and nieces and nephews also survive.

She was predeceased by brothers Harry, Paul, George and Samuel Johnson and a sister Lillian Olmstead.

Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with Rev. Patricia Walz of Dexter United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. Donations may be made as a memorial to her brother Samuel Johnson , Police Officer killed in the line of duty, to the Fish Island Memorial Park % Village of Dexter 100 Locke St. Dexter, N.Y. 13634.
