SACKETS HARBOR Margaret D. Browne, 71, of Harbour Heights, Sackets Harbor, died Friday morning at her home where she had been under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Funeral service will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams, with Rev. Patrick Ratigan, pastor of Saint Cecilias Church, Adams, officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Cemetery, Sackets Harbor. Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
Born October 17 1940 in Binghamton, daughter of mother Kathleen Brown and step father William Thomas, she attended school in Waterville and Greene, NY.
She married Frederick Pete F. Browne Jr. on June 21, 1958 at the Greene Baptist Church. The couple lived in Greene before moving to the town of Hounsfield in 1975. Mr. Browne died September 12, 1999.
Mrs. Browne is survived by three sons, Frederick F. Browne, Adams Center, Timothy J. (Sheri) Browne, Sackets Harbor, Dale F. (Bobbie) Browne, Sackets Harbor; three daughters, Pamela Mickler, Watertown, Tammy (Steve) Sherman, Amanda (Michael) Johnson, Carthage; fourteen grandchildren, Carrie (Mitchel) Kenzior, Frederick Browne, Cody Browne, Scott (Tara) LaSage, Travis (Sara) LaSage, Brookelyn Browne, Dakota Browne, twins Kaitelyn and Jarrett Browne, Amelia Erdem, Annabelle Sherman and fiance Chad Shelmidine, Steve Sherman Jr., Jacob Johnson, Matthew Johnson; five great grandchildren, Angelia Kenzior, Haley Kenzior, Kiara LaSage, Hunter LaSage, Kaylee LaSage; a half brother, George Thomas, Greene, NY; and cousins Patty Brown and Kathy Elger.
Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a son Corey Browne, who died in July 1975.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, crossword puzzles and especially watching the game show The Wheel of Fortune.
