Retire Sen. Ritchie for backing pension bill

I would like to inform the residents of Jefferson County that when they go to the polls this November, we need to elect a person with a lot of integrity, a person who will represent all the people in this district with honor, truthfulness and reliability.

As a state senator, Patty Ritchie is not this person. Sen. Ritchie created and sponsored a bill, S-7751. This bill gave employees of the Jefferson County Industrial Development Agency a New York state pension.

The JCIDA was created by the “good ole boy network.” Most of these employees got these positions because of their political connections.

They never paid into the state retirement system, they never had to take a civil service exam to get these positions, and now, one of the “good ole gals” just handed them a state pension. Something that in order for me to get, I had to pass and be reachable off this civil service list, work 25 long years, and, not to mention, contribute 3 percent of my salary for 13 of those years.

And God forbid if you get seriously injured while performing your duty, because she will not support bills such as A-6135 because of union bosses who threaten to take away PAC money if she supports a bill which will expose the union’s lack of fair representation.

On Nov. 6, I hope the hardworking residents of Jefferson County, who are still working toward retirement, give “the good ole gal” an early retirement.

Because it is obviously clear the good ole boys will never allow a civil service exam to be given for one of their handpicked positions. And it is clear union officials will continue to control her office by denying fair representation to their employees. After all, you just don’t give someone a pension because of their political connections or lack of union PAC contributions. It’s something you have to earn.
