OGDENSBURG The City Council set an Oct. 22 public hearing to consider an ordinance requiring municipal vehicles to be left on city property overnight.
Last month, Councilor Wayne L. Ashley proposed a resolution forbidding staff members to take their city-owned vehicles home in response to complaints that some were driving their cars home during lunchtime or at the end of shifts.
However, Mr. Ashleys proposal requires amending Ogdensburgs administrative regulations, which provide city vehicles for some department heads and staff members. That requires a public hearing and an ordinance to change the policy.
The council likely will pass the ordinance after the public hearing.
