Doheny to combine love of hockey, fundraising at Glens Falls event

Republican congressional candidate Matt Doheny, a hockey goalie in high school, will raise funds at an Adirondack Phantoms game on Oct. 27.
The Phantoms, a minor-league hockey team, play in Glens Falls. Tickets are $50, which includes admission into the game.
Rep. Bill Owens, Mr. Doheny's Nov. 6 opponent, is out with a fundraising missive that accuses Mr. Doheny of wanting to "dismantle" programs like Medicare. Mr. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, also raises the spectre of Grover Norquist, the anti-tax advocate whose group, the Americans for Tax Reform, is up with an ad against Mr. Owens.
"We have just learned that Americans for Tax Reform (ATR), the shadowy right wing Super PAC run by Grover Norquist, has made a massive media buy in our district. They are spending over $780,000 on negative ads from now until the election in an attempt to distort my voting record," Mr. Owens writes. "I will continue working for the families of the 21st Congressional District and New York State through common sense and fact-based, main street focused compromise, but I need your help."
