GOUVERNEUR The state Department of Health conducted an inspection at E.J. Noble Hospital this week, although a reopening of the hospital, closed Sept. 28 by the state because of deficiencies in its lab, remains uncertain.
E.J. Noble submitted a corrective plan that has been under review.
As part of the plan of correction review process, unannounced surveys are sometimes conducted, state Department of Health spokesman Bill Schwarz wrote in an email. The findings of such surveys are considered as part of the overall review.
Mr. Schwarz did not respond to further questions about whether the survey extended beyond the lab or whether there is a time frame in which the review will be completed.
Samaritan Medical Center spokeswoman Krista A. Kittle did not return a call for comment on whether representatives from her Watertown hospital were present during the inspection or on the status of any agreement among the state, itself and E.J. Noble to help the Gouverneur facility get back on its feet.
