MASSENA — Meta M. Mattison, 86 of County Route 46, more recently of 9 Laurel Ave. Massena, passed away Friday afternoon November 2, 2012 surrounded by her family at the St. Regis Nursing Home.

Meta was born on September 30, 1926 in Salisbury, NY the daughter of Homer and Ida (Perry) Plato. She graduated from Dolgeville High School and married Floyd E. Mattison on May 4, 1946 in Fonda, NY. In 1955 she and her husband came to live in Massena, Mr. Mattison predeceased her on April 8, 2002. Meta was employed at the Massena Memorial Hospital in housekeeping, having retired in 1988. She is survived by six sons and daughter in laws, Ronald H. and Carline H. of Durango, CO: Larry E. of Massena: Mitchell F. and Diane of Central Square, NY: Timothy H. and Kathy of Santé Fe, NM: Jeffrey T. and Wanda of Massena: Tracy L. of Massena, 16 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Howard and Edward Plato, and sisters, Rosamond Seeley, Virginia Ploss, Alice Burton and Nina Whitmore. Meta enjoyed spending time with her family.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Phillips Memorial Home, Massena.
