Residents displaced by disaster can vote at any poll

Residents displaced by Superstorm Sandy can vote by affidavit ballot at any poll site in the state under an executive order signed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo.

The voters must be residents in federally declared disaster counties of Nassau, Rockland, Suffolk and Westchester or of New York City, which includes the Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens and Richmond.

The completed affidavit ballots will be sent to the respective board of elections where the voter is registered to be counted.

The affidavit ballot can be canvassed only for contests in which the person was entitled to vote. For example, a resident of Nassau County staying with family in Canton could vote only in the presidential and statewide races, not in local contests.
