POTSDAM Jenna Blujus and Rachel Auerbach of SUNY Potsdam were each selected to the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference volleyball team.
Blujus, a junior setter, earned first-team recognition, and Auerbach, a freshman outside hitter, was named to the second team.
Blujus, a leader offensively and defensively, was honored as a first-teamer for the second consecutive season.
This year, she started in all 140 sets and led the Bears in assists (1,104), digs (463). She was the most productive server in the conference as she led the circuit in service aces (84).
Auerbach led Potsdam in kills (322) and was second in service aces (43) and assists (75), as well as tallying 202 digs and 36 blocks.
The Bears (23-16) have been selected as the fifth seed in the ECAC/Upstate Metro Championships and will travel to Union, N.J., to face No. 4 Kean University (27-10) at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
n SUNY Brockport senior Kaila Maguire, a Potsdam native, has been named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team in womens soccer. Maguire was also named as Brockports female athlete of the week after the top-seeded Golden Eagles lost in a SUNYAC semifinal, 1-0, to SUNY Cortland on Friday. Maguire finished fourth in team scoring this year with 16 points and ranked second in the SUNYAC in assists (8). Maguires 37 career points place her in the top 25 in school history.
