Donald L. Hassig, Colton, was arrested Wednesday by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies and charged with stalking St. Lawrence County Public Health Director Susan J. Hathaway.

Mr. Hassig has continuously harassed Dr. Hathaway since 2010, according to deputies.

He has a history of arrests related to environmental activism and protests. This is his third arrest in as many weeks.

Mr. Hassig received almost 2 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s congressional election as the Green Party candidate.

An order of protection was issued, ordering Mr. Hassig to stay away from Ms. Hathaway. He was released and is scheduled to appear in Canton Town Court
