FORT JACKSON - A two-story wood frame residence at 482 County Route 51 in the town of Lawrence received heavy smoke and fire damage Wednesday afternoon.

Firefighters from Hopkinton-Fort Jackson, Larenceville, North Lawrence, Brasher-Winthrop, Nicholville and Parishville responded to the fire scene at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday.

Tri-Town Rescue and Winthrop-based state police also were on scene.
