CARTHAGE — Pauline VanSlyke, 97, died Sunday afternoon at the Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident for over ten years.

Born on July 31, 1915, in Colton, NY, the daughter of Charles & Ellen Bruce Snyer. Her husband, Donald, died in 1976. She was the owner and operator of VanSlyke’s Restaurant on Outer State St. in Carthage.

Mrs. VanSlyke is survived by her son & daughter in law, Russell & Ann Greene, Fort Myers, Florida, as well as her nieces; Pauline Davis, Massena, NY, Charlene Reed, Norfolk, NY and Nancey Fraser, Boone, North Carolina.

Services for Mrs. VanSlyke will be private. Burial will take place in Swinburne Cemetery, Deer River. Arrangements are with the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage, NY.
