Gregory T. Brunelle, who from 2005 to May 2007 was Jefferson Countys director of fire and emergency management, has been appointed acting chief of staff of the state Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services.
Mr. Brunelle, who in mid-October accepted a transfer from his position as first deputy director of the state Office of Emergency Management, is filling the post until later this year, according to a notice to county emergency management offices statewide. He is serving in the absence of chief of staff Gerald McCarty, who is assisting the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey in restructuring that agencys emergency management program.
Mr. Brunelle, 38, nearly doubled his $48,542 county salary when he accepted the position of deputy director of preparedness with the state Office of Emergency Management in 2007. He was promoted to first deputy director in 2010.
