HEUVELTON — The youth group from Fresh Start Fellowship Church is collecting new blankets to send to New York City victims of Superstorm Sandy.

The project, called “Blanket the City,” is being led by Timothy H. Boprey, Fresh Start youth director, and several other organizations.

New blankets can be dropped off through Dec. 12 at the Canton Price Chopper and Hair Express, Ogdensburg.

Collections for the project also are being organized by St. Mary’s Church, Canton, and the St. Lawrence University men’s hockey team, Canton. Various college groups will be canvassing the community.

Mr. Boprey said cold-weather attire also is welcome, such as hats, mittens, gloves, scarves and heavy socks. Funds to cover transportation costs also are welcome.
