Clarkson volleyball players Adrienne Walker and Victoria Kirkemo swept Liberty League honors in volleyball after they paced the host Golden Knights to the NCAA Division III New York Regional Championships on Sunday.
Walker, who was named the regions Most Outstanding Player, powered Clarkson with 41 kills in three matches. Kirkemo, a freshman, was named rookie of the week for the fifth time this season after generating a team-high 51 kills in the Golden Knights three matches.
Clarkson defeated SUNY New Paltz in Sundays final to advance to the national quarterfinals this weekend in Holland, Minn.
■ The St. Lawrence University mens and womens cross country teams swept the weekly honors for the second time in three weeks. Senior Sam Rakoc was named performer of the week and freshman Spencer Patterson was rookie of the week for the third week in a row after the Saints earned an at-large berth for the NCAA Division III championships. Junior Amy Cymerman and freshman Ella Martin paced SLU to an automatic spot in the Division III championships.
St. Lawrence sophomore Mark Provost of the mens soccer was named performer of the week after scoring the game-winning goal in double overtime that gave the Saints a 2-1 first-round victory in the NCAA tournament over Eastern Connecticut State on Saturday. SLU freshman Dan Hunt was named conference rookie of the week after tying the game in the 84th minute against Blue Cat.
