CORNWALL, Ont - The Cornwall River Kings split a home-and-home series with Thetford Mines with a convincing 4-3 win at home Sunday afternoon in front of more than 2,600 fans.
The first period saw both teams score on special teams. The River Kings Mathieu Curadeau scored shorthanded to make it 1-0. Thetford Mines tied it with a Karl Gagne power play goal.
In the second, Thetford Mines took a 2-1 lead on a goal by Sebastien Courcelles. The River Kings replied with two of their own to overtake the leaf 3-2 thanks to Pierre-Luc Faubert and Nicholas Corbeil.
Cornwall got a goal by Nicholas Romano to go up 4-2 in the third. The Isometric made it 4-3 on Gagnes second goal of the contest before running out of time.
The River Kings take on Sorel-Tracy this Saturday at home and Riviere du Loup on the road Sunday at 4p.m. Tickets to Saturday`s game are available by calling the River Kings office at (613) 935-6219.
