A graveside committal service for 76-year old Mrs. Rosemary Farnsworth of Potsdam will be held Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at the Raymondville Cemetery in Raymondville, NY at 11:00 AM. Mr. David Button, Adirondack Baptist Association Director of Missions, will officiate the committal.
A memorial luncheon will be held following the committal at the Emmanuel Baptist Church on May Road in Potsdam at noon. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Seymour Funeral Home in Potsdam. Mrs. Farnsworth died at her home in Potsdam on November 12, 2012.
Survivors include her husband, Harvey L. Farnsworth of Potsdam, two sons, Danny R. Farnsworth of Potsdam and Wayne and Shirley Johnston Farnsworth of Frankfort, NY, two daughters, Laurie and husband Charles Hurdle of Washington, VT, Terry L. Farnsworth of Ft. Jackson, NY, a brother, A. Andre and his wife Virginia Chartrand of Middletown, Ohio, a sister, Louise Allen of Ogdensburg, NY, 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Rosemary was born in Massena, NY on June 10, 1936 the daughter of Napoleon and Rhea (Lauzon) Chartrand. She married Harvey Lloyd Farnsworth in Raymondville, NY on August 22, 1954. The couple lived in Massena until June 8, 1959 when they moved to Ft. Jackson. They moved to Potsdam on November 12, 2011.
Rosemary was an active member of the Emanuel Baptist Church in Potsdam, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She took an active role in the in music ministry in church for most of her adult life. She was a past Girl Scout leader and Cub Scout pack leader.
Rosemary adopted many children of all ages and troubled teens into her home over the years mentoring them. She enjoyed playing cards and games and spending time with her family and friends.
