Scott A. Gates will try again to persuade the Watertown City Council to build a dog park.
The Dorsey Street man is asking residents to show up at Monday nights City Council meeting to lend support in his quest to get the city to allocate land for the facility. The council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 245 Washington St.
Mr. Gates, who first proposed a city dog park four years ago, has said he believes the proposal should be revisited in light of a law banning dogs at public events on city-owned property.
In a flier given to the Watertown Daily Times, he said that many people have asked him to bring up the issue one more time. During previous efforts, he raised about $200,000 for the dog park, but the City Council has not agreed to accept the donations, he said.
Mr. Gates said he plans to move south because of his health and the health of his dog, Mia Marie Bumblebee.
