WADDINGTON – Virginia L. Miller, 91, 10 LaGrasse Street, formerly of Massena, died early Wednesday morning at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center, where she had been a patient since Thursday. She had been in failing health for the past few months.
Virginia was born March 8, 1921 in Fort Bragg, NC, the daughter of John Franklin and Lula Prashaw Lee. She was a graduate of Massena High School. Virginia married Carl R. Miller on January 26, 1940, at the Church of the Sacred Heart, with Rev. Timothy Holland officiating. He predeceased her on September 23, 2006.
Virginia was a homemaker, but she also worked briefly at Alcoa while her husband was serving his country during the war, and was also employed as a receptionist at Howard J. Premo Lawn Mower Repair Business. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles and watching the Lawrence Welk Show.
She is survived by a daughter, Jane MacMillan of Dania Beach, FL; and a son, Robert C. and Donna Miller of Waddington; two grandchildren, Constance Hoffman of PA and Tammy Donono of KY; and several dear friends, Linda Tredo, Louisville, and Emily Sharlow, Waddington, and her Hospice family, Sherri, Rena, Linda, Shelly, Rochelle, Stephanie, Sheila, Dale and Pastor John.
Virginia was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry A. Hynes on November 1, 1992, and a brother, John Lee.
There will be no calling hours and no funeral service, burial will be at the Louisville Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley or food donations to a local food pantry are appreciated.
